Our story begins with a love for exploration—both of the world and of ourselves. Inspired by the mystique of the Tarot and the allure of squid jerky discovered in the night markets of Asia, we set out to bring this unique snack to American adventurers.
The Inspiration Behind The Hermit
It all started when our founder, Steven, spent years traveling through East and Southeast Asia. There, he fell in love with the local dried squid preparations, which sparked an idea to create a similar product back home. After experimenting with various recipes in his Bangkok kitchen, Steven teamed up with a food science team that had worked with 3-Michelin-star restaurants to refine his creation. The result was a calamari jerky that not only tastes amazing but also aligns with a low-carb, dairy-free, and grain-free diet that Steven found essential for his health.
